aylor Lautner's money shot — the shirtless glory — is inside the July GQ, but the cover shows that this teen heartthrob is on his way to all grown up. In the interview, he answers the required questions about working out and stripping down while also revealing how lucky he feels for all his good fortune. It's clear he's very close to costar Kristen Stewart, who was his wingwoman at the Oscars, and he addressed the infamous Taylor Swift-Kanye West moment for which he belatedly defended her honor. With Eclipse out in two weeks, there's lots of talk of Jacob Black's abs, but he's also ready to step up as Bella's other love interest and become a leading man. - On the Kanye and Taylor Swift incident: "I was standing behind her as it was happening, and 100 percent I was sure it was staged! I thought, 'This was something that they rehearsed.' I was enjoying the show! But then Taylor turned around and I saw her face."
- On presenting with Kristen Stewart at the Oscars: "I would have passed out if she wasn’t there! You’re looking down and you’re talking to George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio — and they’re listening to you!"
- On almost losing the role of Jacob Black: "I'm in the gym, and I'm doing reps, and I'm reading the books, and I'm studying the character. I'm just saying to myself, 'I want this role. I love this role. I'm not gonna lose it. And I'm gonna know it better than anybody, and I'm gonna do that extra rep, because I'm gonna be Jacob Black.'"
- On selectively taking off his shirt: "Originally I was supposed to take off my shirt. The script [of Valentine’s Day] said we were walking into school and Willy takes off his shirt. I said, 'Whoa, whoa, whoa. Time out. He's gonna take off his shirt in the middle of school? No, no, no. The reason I took off my shirt for New Moon is because it's written in the book that way. And there's reasons behind it.
